As Memorial Day weekend approached, I was imagining laying new flagstone on our patio. My foot was hurting, though. Did I just break my toe, or did I also break a metatarsal? I had been limping around for 2 weeks, and, despite my desire to finish the patio, I knew that I needed advise on whether I should take on such a physical project. So I left work mid-day for an appointment with my doctor; an x ray confirmed that I have a broken toe, but I did not break a bone in my foot. The pain in my foot arises out of soft tissue and seems to be due to shifting the weight off the little toe. Ultimately, the question to my doctor was, "Would it be ok to lay patio stone?" His answer: not so much. Dang! Oh well, it'll have to wait.
