QueerDharma Call To Artist

Two new buddha-friends from QueerDharma forwarded this Call To Artist. QueerDharma is a pioneering group based in New York City. If you're an artist and are inspired (as I was) by the theme, Nancy's contact info follows. Best wishes for a successful auction, Shane and Nancy!

Gender-Transcending

QueerDharma Art Auction & Gala Event
Friday, November 30, 2007
Leslie-Lohman Gallery, New York

QueerDharma NY is holding an art auction and gala benefit evening to raise funds for up-coming programs and practice retreats. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Ali Forney Center, a NYC based organization that offers housing, medical, and social services to LGBT youth.

Criteria: Art works should fit the evening's theme "Gender-Transcending," however you define it. This is a unique opportunity to create works exploring this concept. Works on paper should be framed. Paintings need not be framed as long as the edges are clean and exhibit ready. Art can be of any medium, size, and shape. Art or photography must not exceed 60" by 60" and must be ready to hang or sit securely on a shelf mount or pedestal.

The auction will be a one night exhibit hosted at the Leslie-Lohman Gallery, a public nonprofit 501(c) arts organization dedicated to preserving the visual legacy of gay men and women.

Artists may submit a resume and one page artist statement to accompany their work. All artist materials will be placed in a binder for the public to view.

Deadline: Materials must be received by November 16. Drop off is at the NYC Shambhala Meditation Center, 118 22nd Street, 6th floor, between 6th and 7th Avenues in Manhattan. Please call or write to schedule drop off and registration of materials.

Donors will receive a letter documenting your participation and donation for tax purposes. For more information, registration, and submission, please contact Nancy Rodrigo at (718) 768-5145; e-mail Lobelianw@aol.com, or artauction@queerdharma.org
